On the occasion of the first annual day of the inauguration of the ICMR-RMRC Gorakhpur building, SANKALP DIWAS was celebrated on 7th December 2022. On this day the meeting was organized at Field Station Keylong to address major public health concerns of Lahaul and Spiti. Dr. Ranjit Vaid, CMO RH Keylong was present in person while Dr. Sunil Raina Prof. & Head Community medicine, Head MRHRU RPGMC Tanda, and DR. Naresh, MS RH Kullu joined virtually. Dr. Rajnikant, Director ICMR-RMRC Gkp, and Dr. Mahendra M Nodal Officer FS Keylong joined the meeting through online mode from Gorakhpur headquarters. All ICMR-RMRC FS Keylong Scientists and other staff were present at the meeting.

The meeting started with a welcome address by Dr. Ranjikant, Director ICMR-RMRC Gkp.

Dr. Ranjit Vaid highlighted the contribution of ICMR FS Keylong in the identification of major public health concerns in the district like sickle cell anemia and Hepatitis-B and suggested collaborative efforts in public health.

Dr. Sunil Raina discussed future research priorities in Lahaul and Spiti Particularly in Keylong. Dr. Raina suggested focusing on the identification of intervention models their implementation and ultimately their impact on Lahaul and Spiti. He also addressed issues of the impact of climate change, high altitude medicine, Migrant health, Cause of NCDs, Point of care diagnostics, and Hepatitis-B prevalence in other parts of the state.

Dr. Naresh raised the issue of building for field station Keylong and COPD to be considered as a priority beside other research areas. He suggested that for comprehensive outcomes field station Keylong needs to work in collaboration with local health authorities.

Dr. Mahendra M winded the session by ensuring collaborative research and the meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tanuja Mishra, Sci-C, OIC FS Keylong followed by a pledge for commitment towards excellence by all ICMR-RMRC FS Staff.
